In The Chair.

This is my fourth year of doing caricatures and I kind of feel my self leaning towards a plateau. I'm at the stage where I'm not entirely sure as to what I should be studying, observing, or drawing to improve my caricatures... I absolutely don't feel as if I'm done learning, seeing as how I learn something new every time another face sits in front of me; its just that I feel that they are getting to be more of a routine than anything.

So with that said; in an effort to improve my caricatures I've been told that it helps to post up your live work. So here goes nuffin.

The following images were taken throughout the last month or so. Enjoy!

Oh and Crits welcome (anything that helps!)

More to come soon; so stay tuned!

Noosh.

Ok, first off Long time no post. (wanted to get that out of the way).

I'm actually in the process of creating a blog for my personal site (as well as creating a personal site thats not geared towards business like this one --> www.hammdesigns.com).

Secondly, This took WAY longer than I expected to render this video out, and get it to my blog as a post; and its more or less because youtube, and WMG (Warner Music Group) are insane. They no longer allow you to put up videos with copyrighted music.. which doesn't make sense cause its just free publicity for that music... whatever. So to make a long story short, I just stuck it on my own server instead of youtube. bleh.

Anyhow; This is a quick digital caricature of coworker, and fellow artist Chris Neuenschwander; his blog can be found in my sidebar, so look at that n stuff..

Its not as 'pushed' as I would have liked it to be, but overall I'm satisfied with the result. Also, I wanted to stay kind of loose, so I stopped myself from getting crazy w/ details.

The song is Muse - Hysteria from their album 'Absolution'
It took me around 45min to an hour to paint it in OpenCanvas 1.1

Enjoy!

Update... Finally (Kinda).

I. Have. Been. Busy...

Wow. I know I haven't posted here in ages, even though I said that I would. The thing is, that when I get a ton of work to do its hard to keep this at the forefront of my mind...

any how HAPPY Thanksgiving!

and here is some things I've been working on.

First Off:

This is a digital painting I did of Barack Obama, it took me about 2.5ish hours. I did it during his speech night of the Democratic National Convention (The night he had 90k ppl in that stadium).

Enjoy! also let me know what you think!

I've been doing a crap load of websites lately too... I can only show you one of them (as I don't have permission to show the rest just yet:

Digital Painting

Well, its 2:48am and I know I should be working on a commission but yet and still here I sit updating my hopelessly UN-updated blog. I read somewhere once that this is a form of procrastination; where I choose to do something else that I should do, but is less important than what ever it is I SHOULD be doing at that given time... but I digress.

This is a digital painting that I did for a lady who wanted a unique logo animation. It was done somewhere in the range of 35-40 min. She loved it when she saw it, but when she saw the price tag that came along with it (and the website I created to go along with it), she said it was far too expensive and tried to haggle me down to a price that was about 1/5 of what I originally wanted. Needless to say she didn't get this animation.

From that day forward I started requiring a 20% deposit on every commission, not to mention I tell people the prices up front...

Anyhow here are the painting steps (Click The Play button to watch)

The song is "Blue Man Group - TV Song"

The Programs I used were:

Adobe After Effects (for the video)
Camtasia Studio (for the recording)
OpenCanvas 1.1 (for the painting)
Adobe Flash (for the embedding)

err, and I Think thats all.

Enjoy!

Intro Design.

Its been a while since I've had the chance to do any illustration work. I've been kept quite busy by web/graphic/interactive design "crap" (I say crap not because I don't like it, but because I'd rather be drawing).

Anyhow.

Here is the logo I designed for my girlfriend's website. It involves her logo (a self-caricature done by her) bursting into particles... It took about 1 1/2 hours in photoshop, flash, aftereffects, and illustrator.

Enjoy!

...and so it begins.

On an average day I find myself sitting in front of this machine for a period of time greater than I'd care to admit. Staring at the warm glow of the screen, feeding from its hypnotic suggestion. Moments slip into hours, and hours slip into days, as a barrage of subliminal persuasion screams louder into my subconscious. All the while sitting quietly in darkest corner of my dimly lit room affectionately titled "My Studio." Infinite knowledge at my fingertips, the ability to ascertain the thoughts, feelings, and opinions of millions, billions even. All willingly accepted by my subconscious in the form of (often depraved) images, video, audio and text. Creating a symphony of knowledge beautifully orchestrated via HTML code, and interactive flash design. I, today sitting in my "rolly" chair, have gone mad. Mad in a society where perverted, and ignorant lunatics are praised and idolized with reality television shows; a society where religion is mocked, and looked down upon; a society that hungers, and lusts for meaningless power, and material things. A society that constantly misconstrues my kindness for weakness. I have gone mad in a time where going mad is the only cure for a greater insanity that is looked at as being normal. The Majority. I sit here today not only to finally create a blog, and showcase my artwork (my life), and join the ever increasing 'band-wagon' of my peers and co-workers. I have created this blog in an effort to release the fury of a mad man through scribblinz, and ramblings much like this one. In the form of video, audio, text, and images (not nearly as depraved). Rebelling against the majority. Against society.

This is me, a mad man joining the Blog Band-Wagon, and these are my Scribblinz.
